Polaris Building

Public Safety

  • Created the first Community Paramedic Program in Fairbanks history

  • Renovated training facilities and fire station for Fairbanks Fire Department

  • Implemented peer support integration into police activities

  • Established successful recruitment and retention solutions for Fairbanks  Police Department

Economic Prosperity

  • Secured $13 million in grant funding for the demolition and redevelopment of the Polaris Building

  • Sponsored blight property ordinance to address hazardous or dangerous properties throughout the city

  • Oversaw the largest budget surpluses in Fairbanks history 2 years in a row

  • Reduced property taxes and garbage billing within the city

 

Social Services

  • Advocated for the creation of a crisis stabilization center for individuals suffering through a mental health or substance abuse crisis

  • Facilitated Crisis Prevention Institute training for City employees, police officers, and firefighters.

  • Assisted housing hundreds of Fairbanks residents struggling with homelessness through Reentry and Housing coordination

  • Led a Social Services symposium that brought in leading experts from across the nation​

2nd Term Goals

Continue City Improvements

  • Continue development of city landmarks such as the Polaris building site and Golden Heart Plaza

  • Continue to provide impressive management of city services such as snow removal and public safety

  • Incentivize small businesses to continue growing our economic sector through various programs​

Build Community

  • Develop innovative ways to address the outmigration and housing issues facing our community

  • Expand our community relations with University of Alaska and military partners

  • Advocate for opportunities that greatly improve our city, such as cheaper energy, stable property taxes, and better private sector development  â€‹
